‘Place’ setting

We’re cheating with this Monday Night at the Movies selection — “A Place at the Table,” a new documentary on hunger in the states. We’ve already talked about it on the site, and we actually watched it Friday. Previously we’d only seen the trailer and a Bill Moyers episode based on the film, and that was enough to push us into trying to live on a food-stamp diet for a week.

That week is coming soon. Next month, in fact. Of course, we’ll keep you posted on The Dew Abides. Until then watch this film. You will experience:

  • Anger
  • Guilt
  • Renewed love of honeydew
  • Tears
  • Frustration
  • Newfound resolve to diet

And you will pay about $4 for the privilege.

Why do you want to put yourself through it? You don’t. But you need to. We all do. Hunger is a bitch, and an unnecessary one.

And on the plus side, if you do watch, you’ll hear some great music by The Civil Wars and T Bone Burnett. So there’s that.

Rent it to stream on Amazon or iTunes, or buy a physical copy here.
