Since Promised Land, the film Brad mentioned in an earlier post about fracking, opened at the dollar theatre, we decided to shake things up by going out for Monday Night at the Movies. Metacritic describes the plot as…
A salesman for a natural gas company experiences life-changing events after arriving in a small town, where his corporation wants to tap into the available resources.
If you’ve already seen this one, we’re curious what you thought. Was it even-handed? Was the science sound? And if you live somewhere that’s been impacted by fracking operations, please chime in. We’d love to know if the promised riches were delivered and if there have been environmental repercussions.
Very curious to see if the movie is propaganda for one side of the debate or if it genuinely addresses the gray areas real human beings face. As despicable as oil and gas conglomerates may be, if we’re honest, we’ll acknowledge our own role in the energy consumption that forces otherwise good people to wrestle with a lose-lose decision.
Here’s hoping for a thought-provoking evening.
