Keeping it real

Yeah, I know, we’ve posted lots of pretty pictures of finished jars of peaches, beets, and green beans, but here’s a little secret The Martha won’t tell you:

Canning can be nasty business, and that’s OK. Nothing about it is difficult, but focus is critical because certain steps need to be completed at specific times in the process. So multitasking — like cleaning up as you go — isn’t really an option.

It’s quite zen actually. Maybe that’s why I like it so much.

So go ahead. Relax, make a mess, and don’t beat yourself up about it. You can always dance yourself clean* afterwards.

*Hold out until 3:08. Your feet will has a happy.
